India recorded 5,357 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the active caseload to 32,814, as per the latest health ministry data on Sunday.
This is a slight decrease in the number of daily cases as compared to the previous day when 6,166 new cases were reported, and the active cases constitute only 0.07% of the total infections.
The national Covid-19 recovery rate is 98.74%, according to the health ministry website. As of now, 4,41,92,837 people have recovered from the disease, and the case fatality rate is 1.19%. The country has administered 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine under its nationwide vaccination drive.
The Uttar Pradesh government has issued instructions to activate Covid command centers in districts, increase testing, and send samples for genome sequencing. The state currently has around 1,000 active cases. On Saturday, the UP Government also mandated Covid tests for anyone returning from abroad and instructed genome sequencing on samples that tested positive for the virus.
